Dynamic status bar styling not working on Android?

Hi there-

I'm using the dynamic status bar styling JS bridge script here: https://gonative.io/docs/dynamic-status-bar-styling.

The iOS version is working wonderfully!

However, no matter what I do for Android, I am unable to affect the status bar. I would like the icons to go dark (or the background to be dark) but neither style or color properties change the look.
