Link Handling Priority

Do the internal vs external link settings take precedence over the URL Scheme Protocol?

We'd like to build in a LinkedIn Auth but the Auth screen always opens in the mobile device browser rather than staying in the app? Wondering if it's because there is a LinkedIn page rule?
