So: What is an Apple Developer account and why do you need one?
In a nutshell: An Apple Developer Account is essential for publishing, managing, and monetizing your iOS app — and a must if your business has an app in queue to be published on the Apple App Store.
To better understand the importance of developer accounts, here are some reasons why you need to set up your app developer account:
To do this, first, go to appleid.apple.com.
Then, click on “Create Your Apple ID.” On the next screen, enter your name, birthdate, email address, and create a password. Next, click on “Continue.”
Then, you will need to verify your email address by checking your email’s inbox — enter the code Apple sent you. Once verified, log in to your newly created Apple ID.
To do this on your iPhone or iPad, go to "Settings." Tap your name at the top of the screen (Apple ID banner).
Then, select "Password & Security." Click on "Turn On Two-Factor Authentication" and follow the instructions.
Then, verify the phone number you provided while creating your Apple ID to enable two-factor authentication.
To do this on a mac, go to "System Preferences." Then, click on "Apple ID" > "Password & Security."
Then, turn on two-factor authentication, once it's on, you will be asked to enter your phone number to receive verification codes.
To do this, go to developer.apple.com. Then, in the top right corner of your screen, click on the “Account” tap.
Next, sign in with your Apple ID and review the Apple Developer Agreement. Once reviewed, click “Agree” to access the terms.
Then, on the Account page, click on “Join the Apple Developer Program.” Then, click “Enroll” to start the enrollment process.
Once enrolled, select an account type.
If “Individual”, proceed to the next step.
If “Organization”, then enter your company’s D-U-N-S Number — this can be obtained from Apple's D-U-N-S lookup page.
For an individual account, fill out the contact information including your name, address, and phone number.
For an organization account, fill out the company name, its D-U-N-S Number, and address.
You must also provide the legal contact details including the person who has the authority to bind your company to the Apple Developer Agreement.
For individual accounts, Apple will automatically verify your identity by aligning it with the associated Apple ID.
For organization accounts, Apple may call or email the legal contact to verify the company’s details and their authority to act on behalf of the company.
Note: Apple will also verify your company’s D-U-N-S Number so make sure it's registered.
Once the verification is complete, review your enrollment details then click “Purchase” to proceed to the payment page.
On the payment page, fill out your payment information (credit card or other forms of payment). Then, proceed to pay the $99 USD annual fee.
Once the payment is processed, Apple will send you a confirmation email (this can take up to 48 hours).
Once email verification is complete, your enrollment is finalized and your Apple Developer Program membership goes live!
These steps are important to set up your developer account. Once all steps are complete, you can then access your account by going to developer.apple.com/account.
Then, sign in with your Apple ID, and voila! You’re in. You now have access to Apple’s developer tools, resources, and account settings.
